5 Ways to Get Out of a Mid-Week Slump

5 Ways to Get Out of a Mid-Week Slump

If you're having a week like mine, you might be reaching for another cup of coffee and in desperate need of a "pick-me-up" right about now!  I don't know about you, but this week just seems to be dragggging on.  Anyone else with me?!

I've decided that today I'm gonna do something for me- something I love, in the hopes of gaining some motivation to finish out the week on a good note! I've got some fun plans later this weekend  and I want to feel present and ready to enjoy them!

Here are 5 ideas that I think will help perk you up and get you ready to finish the week strong!

1. Drink another cup of coffee. Let's face it, today is just one of those days where one cup isn't enough! You deserve another cup. But this time- don't drink it at your desk next to your pile of things you're worrying about getting done, or in the car while you're in a hurry on your way home.  Take 10 minutes to stop and sip. Disconnect for second. Think about something you're grateful for today. Say some words of thanks for the quiet time you're having.

2. Take a shower with essential oils.  I tried this a few weeks ago and put a few drops of lavender oil in the bottom of my shower. The steam makes the whole bathroom smell like calming goodness! I highly recommend.  If you don't have any oils, you can talk to my good friend Kaylee Carley about trying some out. They also have some cheap "off-brand" oils at places like TJ Maxx and Ross. I also find that taking a long and super hot shower is a great time for me to reflect on my day and have prayer time as well.

3. Watch your favorite movie.  My favorite of all time is Never Been Kissed with Drew Barrymore! It's not only super silly, but it has the sweetest love story. Watching movies that I love bring back so many memories of when I watched them the first time- maybe it reminds me of a time in my childhood, or maybe I went to see the movie in theaters with my friends.  Either way- I love a good throwback. They're comforting and they take my mind off of what's stressing me out.

4. Search for inspiring pins on Pinterest.  One of my favorite things to do when I'm needing a bit of a pick-me-up is to pin things on Pinterest that go along with the "vibe" I'm feeling that day. Sometimes, it's a whole board of cute dogs (no shame), or maybe I'm loving all things "floral" that day. Some days, I like finding some encouraging scripture or poetry and I like doodling them out in calligraphy letters and different scripts. Pinterest is a great source for when you're needing to let out your creative side, and this is always encouraging for me!

5. Buy some flowers on your way home from work today. I would have a whole house full of fresh flowers if I could! I don't know what it is about having them in the house that just make me so happy. I love waking up in the morning and seeing there on my kitchen counter. I even love arranging them and putting them into the vase.  Trader Joe's is my favorite place to get flowers because they have a huge variety and they're always super affordable!

Regardless of what you decide to do, I hope it gives you the perfect "kick" to finish off your week with confidence! What's something that you like to do to get out of your mid-week slump?
Let me know!
